Atlanta summers bring with them a slew of great events.   Take a look at some of the fun things happening over the next couple of weeks and get out there!

Atlanta Ice Cream FestivalThird Annual Atlanta Ice Cream Festival – Saturday, July 27, 11:00am-6:00pm, Piedmont Park.   Enjoy everybody’s favorite cool treat while learning about health and fitness.   That’s right – ice cream and fitness at the same event!  Attendees will also enjoy a variety of entertainment including music, exercise demonstrations, an ice cream eating competition, and a kids’ comedy corner.  The event is free and open to the public.

On a related note, if you want to cool off with a treat that is a bit healthier than ice cream, check out Fruttela Frozen Yogurt in Inman Park.  Unlike many other Atlanta frozen yogurt shops, Fruttela’s fro yo is made with 100% organic non-fat milk and real fruit.  Fruttela is conveniently located right off the BeltLine Eastside Trail at 701 N. Highland Ave. so swing by while you are strolling along!

Red Hare Brewing Company Tap Takeover at The Drafting Table Pub, every Tuesday beginning July 30, 4:00pm-6:00 pm.  Enjoy a $3 Red Hare Gangway IPA paired with an offer in which The Drafting Table will buy your first pint and you get to keep the glass!   Expect great food specials as well.

Run or Dye – Saturday, August 3, 9:00am, Turner Field.  Though the event is just a week away, it appears there is still time to register for this unique and colorful 5K.  Runners of all ages and fitness levels will be showered in safe, eco-friendly, plant-based powdered dye throughout the course of the race.  You’ll leave the event feeling great and looking like a human rainbow!

Inaugural Cool Dads Rock Soap Box Derby Festival – Saturday, August 3, 10:00am-4:00 pm, Historic Fourth Ward Park.  This fun family event includes food trucks, music, activities, cars on display, and of course the Soap Box Derby!  If you haven’t signed up to participate, come watch the race!   Participants will design and race the cars they built and winners will be judged based on creativity and speed.
